2021 - The Big Dinner

During the month of Ramadan 2021 in conjunction with the HIRA foundation, we hosted an event called ‘The Big Dinner’. Across two locations, Finsbury Park and Feltham we with the help of 60 amazing volunteers (25 kitchen volunteers, 10 distribution volunteers, 25 online volunteers)

  • Served 17,000 meals

  • delivered 1800 food parcels

  • Ran two contribution food markets providing these food parcels

2021 April - CGI communication workshop

The free, hour-long event, which ran last Thursday, was an informative session, providing attendees with a range of information about the job application process. The mentors from CGI covered a wide range of topics, including:

  • CVs - what hiring managers want to know, and how to write your own

  • Interviews - the different types of interviews, and how to prepare for them

  • Techniques for communicating your skills and qualities clearly and effectively

  • What NOT to do - just as helpful as knowing what you should do!

2020 Covid-19 Response

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have delivered a variety of projects to support local communities and key workers. 

  • We converted three charity shops at the Imperial NHS TRUST into ‘in kind’ shops for NHS staff. To this day, the shops have had 120,000 visits

  • We acted as a mini food hub for 23 charities and institutions in the Greater London area during lockdown

  • We distributed an average of 250 food parcels per week across 11 boroughs in Greater London to provide 1243 adults and 717 children with food over lockdown

  • We tried and tested our Contribution Food Market at Middlesex University open to students and the community at large

  • From March to September, we distributed 146,400 tons of food 

  • We donated 1452 3D face shields to NHS staff during lockdown


Our Community

  • We set up and managed a community cafe and food bank in Brent for 8 years, run by people suffering with mental health conditions.

  • In the past 8 years, we have offered work placements to 800 young people, an average of 100 placements per year


Events

  • From 2010 to 2017, we organised, contributed and participated in GLA events attended by up to 125,000 people over 7 years.
